~ ~ ~ E V E R Y O N E ~ ~ ~ pLEASE JOIN US THIS SUNDAY, AUG. 12th FOR A SPECIAL SERVICE TO GIVE THANKS FOR OUR PRAYERS BEING ANSWERED FOR the END Whaleback Fire"
Psalm 46 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.[c] 4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. 5 God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. 6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. 7 The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. 8 Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth. 9 He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields[d] with fire. 10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” 11 The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
"Almighty God, we know You are all-powerful and nothing is impossible with You. We praise You for being our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. As we face the trouble and danger of the Whaleback fire, we become keenly aware of the value of life. This is the time to experience Your peace by living out the truths of Psalm 46.
We pray for the safety and protection for all the fire crews. We pray for Your wisdom in their decision-making. We pray that you continue to provide the resources they need to adequately fight this fire. You are Lord of the weather, so we ask for favorable winds and weather that would assist the fire fighters. For those who have been injured, comfort and heal. Please continue to extend favor and protection to all in harm's way.
Lord, we pray for protection for all property owners. May this be a time where our community places complete trust and faith in You, Heavenly Father, seeing your unmatchable power at work. May our community experience Your comfort and peace during this time of evacuation and separation. Whether in retreat from the fire or advancing against it, may we see You victorious over the obstacles. May each realize that You, LORD, are greater than the disasters they may be facing in the heat of the moment, and only You can bring good out of bad situations.
Strengthen Your church, Lord. Awaken and activate Your people, showing us how we can be Your hands and feet during this difficult time, pointing others to You as needs are met. We pray for the salvation of souls as Your people follow the Spirit's lead in sharing their faith, knowing people are often open to the Gospel during times of disaster and difficulty. May Your church shine Your light during these dark times.
All we have is You, Lord God, and all we need is You. We continue to put all of our trust in You. We will not fear, because You promise to always be with us. We pray these truths in Jesus' most powerful name, Amen."
